passing clouds

passing clouds
sometimes when i’m feeling sad
sometimes when i’m feeling mad
hey, it won’t go away
my feelings seem too big to fit
i don’t know what to do with it all
i feel too small
then i remember that it helps to recall:
this feeling will pass!
this feeling won’t last!
like the clouds in the sky it will blow away, fly away
and i’ll feel the sunshine shine down on the rest of my day
mad, cross, angry, scared or frightened
worried, nervous, tummy tightened
hey, it won’t go away
my feelings seem too big to fit
i don’t know what to do with it all
i feel too small
then i remember that it helps to recall:
that this feeling will pass!
this feeling won’t last!
like the clouds in the sky it will blow away, fly away
i’ll feel the sunshine shine down on the rest of my day
so i breathe in, breathe out
breathe in, let it out!
like the clouds in the sky it will blow away, fly away
i’ll feel the sunshine shine down on the rest of my day!

the friendship song

the friendship song
i see the light in your eyes
i see the kind in your smile
i see the way that your loving heart shines like the sun
in the big ol’ blue sky
courage you see when i try
sorrow you feel when i cry
you’ll stand in my shoes and i’ll stand in yours
and i’ll cherish your heart like it’s mine
may life treat you kindly!
may you always be safe and well!
may you shine forever brightly!
and may happiness ring from your heart like a big shining bell!
i feel the wind in the trees
i hear the waves on the sea
i see the wonder and joy of it all
and i’m here, and you’re right here with me!

the amygdala song
03:00
|
|||
the amygdala song
the amygdala’s a button in my limbic brain
it’s really not complicated, i’ll explain:
if something happens suddenly to do me harm
my amygdala rings like a tiny alarm
if a sabre-tooth tiger’s jumpin’ out at me
in a split second it’ll tell me to fight or flee
it gets my heart rate goin’, my oxygen flowin’
my appetite slowin’ down, my muscles growin’
oh it’s my amygdala!
when i’m scared it keeps me prepared
thank you, my amygdala
you help me thrive, you help me survive!
well, you know how with a button, it can get left on?
my amygdala keeps signalling that something's wrong
my feelings explode, now they’re running the show
and my brain forgets how to find its flow
amygdala, i have something to say to you:
there is so much more to my brain than just you!
I have a spec-tacular neocortex too
and it's waiting here just for something to do!
it’s where i think, am wise, am kind
it’s where i can quiet my mind
i need both of your voices so i can make choices
let’s give you a rest so you don't feel stressed
just breathe with me now and we’ll soon be feeling our best
breathe with me, amygdala!
feeling calm and safe from harm
calming down, amygdala
there’s nothing to fear -
thanks! i can take it from here...

if my belly was a bowl of water
if my belly was a bowl of water i didn’t want to spill
i would try everything i ought to, to find a way to be still
if i imagined all my feelings in that bowl
my thoughts and reactions too
i’d make such an effort so that bowl won't overflow
here’s what i would do:
i would breathe
i would close my eyes
and i would feel just what it's like inside
and if the water had got ruffled up
and was splashing over the edge and onto the floor
i would take just a few deep breaths
and my bowl would be full once more
yes i can breathe
i can close my eyes
and i can feel just what it's like inside
and if the water has got ruffled up
and is splashing over the edge and onto the floor
i can take just a few deep breaths
and my bowl will be full once more

i wonder what it’s like 2bu!
i wonder what it’s like to be you
what it's like to feel your feelings too
i wonder why you choose to do the things that you do
yeah i wonder what it’s like to be you!
what if i could stand in your shoes?
what if i had a day being you?
then i could really understand you through and through
yeah i wonder what it’s like to be you!
what are you feeling? what mood are you in?
what do you see out of your eyes? what’s it like in your skin?
what’s the kind of food that you like?
and do you lie awake at night?
what’s exciting? what is frightening? are you shy?
i wonder what you’re like inside!
if i could see the world through your eyes
would i be in for a surprise?
it might be hard but i think i could give it a try
to see the world through your two eyes!
what are you feeling? what mood are you in?
what do you see out of your eyes ? what’s it like in your skin?
i wonder what it’s like to be you
what it's like to feel your feelings too
i wonder why you choose to do the things that you do
yeah i wonder what it’s like to be you!
oh i wonder what it’s like to be…you!

the thoughts song

the thoughts song
i know that I’m not my thoughts
my thoughts are a galloping horse
they’re wild and they’re free
but they’ll start to ride me
if I don’t slow them down to a walk
my thoughts are like waves on the sea
they’ll keep rolling in over me
they’ll crash and they’ll break
my attention they’ll take
but I know that they're not really me:
i am the blue sky!
i am that field!
i am the ocean wide!
i am my big heart revealed!
thoughts are just clouds
see them sailing on by
watch them saddle up
and gallop off away, by and by
oh see them saddle up, and gallop off away, by and by

i am my own best friend
04:07
|
|||
i am my own best friend
sometimes i’m lonely or worried or sad, and i find
that i believe the stories in my mind
that i should’ve done better, pulled myself together
and i’ve gone and done it again:
i forgot to be my own best friend
if i had a friend who was sad then i’d go cheer them up
i’d tell them that i understand and i’d give them a hug
i’d tell them not to worry, that we’re all in this together
i’d sit and hold their hand and watch the passing weather
and i remember all over again:
that i can be my own best friend!
i can calm my mind by choosing to be kind
i can say lovely things to myself every single time that i worry!
i can calm my mind by choosing to be kind
till i remember again that i am my own best friend!
if i had a friend who was sad then i’d go cheer them up
i’d tell them that i understand and i’d give them a hug
i’d tell them not to worry, that we’re all in this together
i’d sit and hold their hand and watch the passing weather
and i remember all over again:
that i can be my own best friend!
cos i can stop and breathe and there are words that i can say to myself:
‘don’t you worry darling, it’s gonna be ok!’
i'll put my hands upon my heart cos that’s the best place to start
till i remember again that i am my own best friend!
i can calm my mind by choosing to be kind
i can say lovely things to myself every single time that i worry!
i can calm my mind by choosing to be kind
till i remember again that i am my own best friend!
and i remember again that i am my own best friend.

the stop! song
01:24
|
|||
the stop! song
when my feelings reach the ceiling
and i think that i might pop!
i remember someone told me
that all i have to do is stop!
so I stop whatever i’m doing!
stop whatever i’m doing!
stop whatever i’m doing, and i breathe, ooohh!
i stop whatever i’m doing!
stop whatever i’m doing!
stop whatever i’m doing, and i breathe!
i breathe in through my nose
i breathe out down to my toes
my feet are on the ground, and i’m still
in through my nose
i breathe out down to my toes
my feet are on the ground, i’m calming down
look what i’ve found - all because i stopped!

quiet mind
03:24
|

quiet mind
i try to find
a way to quiet my mind
sitting here until
i feel calm and still
breathing in, breathing out
let it in, then let it out
listen to the sounds
sitting here on the ground
oh...feel i’m calming down
i’m peaceful inside
my mind is so quiet now
and happiness i find, every time!

the thank you song
05:06
|
|||
the thank you song
i feel grateful for every little good thing in my life
when i stop and notice more of every little thing i love, i feel happy inside
like: birdsong, rainfall soft, sunshine so warm, the kind look of a friend
when i feel grateful for all these things, the list goes on and on - it never ends!
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
thank you, with all of my heart!
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
thank you is where i’m gonna start!
and when i’m feeling sad, or maybe when i’m mad
it helps to calm me down if i begin to look around, and say:
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you...

my hand in your hand
02:39
|

my hand in your hand
my hand in your hand
come stand next to me
my land is your land
it’s plain to see:
we could together all around the world
join friends forever, every boy every girl
it could be so easy and i don't understand
why we don't just hold onto each other’s hands!
come on let’s try it - let's hold onto each other's hands!
